Leveraging Hosted Anti-Spam

Organizations are quickly coming to acknowledge the need for a robust email solution. This concerns with spam too, one of the formidable challenges facing the IT industry today. Most companies prefer an on-premise email server—perhaps driven by security concerns—but if the larger picture is considered, a hosted solution turns out to be far more effective.

Here’s how:

  • Continuity: In the case of a server failure or power outage, an on-premise system will lead to loss of emails. Of course an organization can set up redundant servers, but then the costs and maintenance time go up. By contrast, a hosted solution provides continuity and 100% data safety.
  • Two-way spam control: A hosted email solution will check email spam not only for the incoming emails, but also for outgoing ones. Too often the employees are involved in spamming emails, intentionally or unintentionally, which can become a source of problem for the company.
  • Reduced support overhead: Most hosted email solutions provide automated services for report generation, scanning blocked email, notifications, etc. That means the time involved in reaching the IT department and waiting for the solution gets saved. This directly leads to reduced maintenance expenditure.
  • Scalability: Hosted email is extremely easy to scale up, as contrasted with the on-premise solution, that will become a major challenge if the administrator has to deal with irregular changes in email traffic and users.
  • Latest in anti-spam: The hosted email provider is bound to have the latest anti-spam technology installed on the servers, for which otherwise the company would have to absorb upgrade costs.

In many ways, having a hosted anti-spam solution is way better than an on-premise solution.
